Stamped Battery Terminals

Eaton’s progressive die stamped and formed battery terminal provides leading performance, cost, and weight savings. The stamped battery terminals, which are the electrical contacts used to connect a load or charger to a single- or multiple-cell battery, are designed to meet all industry standards.

Eaton’s innovative stamped battery terminals can be customized to customer specifications. One method used to test the terminals is finite element analysis, which predicts real-world physical behavior by testing cam models, to ensure the terminals meet the quality standards our customers expect, including long service life, limited temperature fluctuations, and resistance to moisture. Eaton’s stamped battery terminals are also ideally suited for passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle applications.

Eaton’s battery terminals are compatible with SAE and DIN configurations and various post sizes (JIS, IEC) and feature a top-down design (terminal can be tightened from the top with right, left or center hand); resistance to corrosion; and are a robust primary positive and negative connection on a 12-volt battery.

In the material efficient stamped battery terminal (SBT) we are reducing the amount of material we use to manufacture the part. Because of this manufacturing change the terminal is formed in a different fashion which increases the retention performance at the battery post. ME stamped battery terminal (SBT) is material efficient while offering improved performance.

Yes. Water and other vehicle fluids. Eaton’s parts are tested to USCar standards/fluids.

Because of chemicals and environmental conditions.   Power at the connection also accelerates corrosion, this is why the starter and alternator eyelets are capped.

Heat is a result of resistance in the connection.  Improper connection, bad crimp, damaged wire, etc. will lead to heating. To validate terminals, we measure this resistance in the connection.

Yes, they can, but when a part is crimped or welded to a wire the individual eyelet cannot be replace. However, on a battery, sometimes the Stamped Battery Terminal (SBT) does not have a grip, only auxiliary connection points.  In these cases, the SBT can be changed out without having to replace or splice the harness wiring.
