xStorage Compact, our all-in-one single-rack energy storage system

The Eaton xStorage Compact energy storage system enables buildings owners and facility managers to solve power management challenges for their small and medium commercial and industrial sites. Eaton xStorage Compact helps them increase local renewable energy consumption and integrate the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on site. Eaton xStorage Compact is available in a single-rack version that is easy to install, ready-to-use with symmetric charge and discharge and back-up ready. The system also includes a control platform with user interface and simple expansion options. This compact system is modular, scalable and well suited for a wide range of energy storage applications.

Enabling the integration of renewables and electric vehicle charging stations

xStorage Buildings enables the Catholic University of Lille in France to integrate its renewable energy production and maximise consumption on campus. The xStorage Buildings system also stores unused energy which is then redistributed during peak periods or when re-charging an electric vehicle. The system is used to power three electric vehicle charging stations. It provides six charging points with 132 kW of consumption at full load, which offers a high degree of modularity and flexibility vis-à-vis the electrical grid.

Ensuring back-up power and peak shaving while using more self-generated solar energy

The Bislett Stadium in Norway wanted to invest in an energy storage solution that would enable it to shave peaks in energy consumption and usage, utilise its production of solar power more intelligently and ensure back-up power for the stadium and the events it hosts. The xStorage Buildings system installed at the Bislett Stadium includes a 100 kW power conversion system and three racks with 30 Eaton battery packs made up of second-life Nissan LEAF battery modules. This is a great example of the circular economy.

Build resiliency

Installing xStorage Buildings enhances overall sustainability and reduces CO2 footprints, thereby limiting the deployment of diesel generators. The system also enables the increased consumption of renewable energy if connected to on-site wind and solar PV installations. The microgrid at the Wadeville facility in South Africa includes an xStorage Buildings system that saved 11,812 metric tons CO2 in one year.

Ensure back-up power and avoid costly downtime
xStorage Buildings can provide you with energy if the grid fails, thereby ensuring that critical systems keep running and allowing you to avoid costly downtime.
Peak shaving

xStorage Buildings stores energy from the grid during off-peak times or when renewable energy is available and releases it during peak times so that you don’t exceed your maximum demand, thereby allowing you to reduce cost through self-consumption.

 

Increase renewable self-consumption

xStorage Buildings stores renewable energy when the sun is shining or wind turbines are in action, in order to use it morning, noon and night.

 

Load shifting

xStorage Buildings can help you manage your electricity, ensuring that energy will be released to provide for higher loads when demand increases. It can also be pre-programmed to manage loads during normal times when load changes are inevitable, and at times when grid electricity prices are highest.
