Know the facts about SF6
Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) tops the list of the most harmful greenhouse gases (GHG). It is 23,500 times more potent than CO2 and stays in the atmosphere for 3,200 years, according to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The use of SF6 is banned by the Europe Union and many other countries in Europe except for its application in electrical switchgear - and that exemption may end soon, too.
There are already proven alternatives to SF6 in the medium-voltage switchgear market and the imperative to choose more sustainable options has never been more urgent than it is today. Find out more in our fact file.
