Which type of UPS should you use and why?

As machines are generally run by motors, meaning that loads are quite large, we recommend an equally powerful UPS for this purpose. Our portfolio contains many online double-conversion models suitable for this purpose, from the Eaton 9SX and 9PX to the 93PS, 93T, 93PM, 93PM G2 and 93PX which can all handle high start-up currents and voltage spikes.

Servers are a crucial piece of IT equipment that should be protected against both outages and power quality issues, such as sags and surges. For this purpose, we recommend the Eaton 5P GEN2 or Eaton 5PX Gen 2 (the ‘X’ stands for extended batteries), whose wide range of power ratings, clear notifications, advanced LCD and optional connectivity make it ideal for protecting professional equipment.

The failure of a point-of-sale (POS) system due to a power issue is frustrating for both cashier and customer, which is why a UPS systems for retail makes sense in this case – and the same goes for self-checkout terminals. We therefore recommend using the Eaton Ellipse ECO, an extra-flat UPS with an integrated, high-performance surge-protection device.

While security systems are frequently battery-powered, you can connect them to a UPS for an additional layer of protection. With their extended battery runtime, either the Eaton 5PX Gen 2 or the more powerful Eaton 9PX are the ideal choice for backing up connected equipment such as power over Ethernet (PoE) switches or systems used for storing security camera footage.
