Power distribution for IT equipment

Eaton Rack PDU G4

Eaton's new rack PDU G4 delivers highly secure power distribution and business continuity, which are critical in the modern data centre space. This has been achieved through in-depth work, incorporating customer experience and marketplace feedback.

When you talked about connectivity needs, we listened.

The result is G4's revolutionary single C39 outlet that combines both C13 10A and C19 16A specifications. This offers unprecedented flexibility and ease of use. The only question now is “how many outlets do you need?” Not which kind. Not only does G4 take cybersecurity to new levels but it also brings big increases in network and power redundancy, underpinned by reduced energy requirements. Eaton Power Distribution Units match solutions to needs with four rack PDU G4 technologies.

Designed for incremental feature upgrades

              Basic

Our basic G4 PDU provides cost-effective, reliable power distribution with a secure, built-in high retention system to firmly hold standard power cables plus new C39-type outlet that combines C13 and C19 connectors.

      Metered input

Our metered-input G4 PDU streamlines power management and promotes efficient operations by simplifying load balancing and preventing overloads.

           Switched

Our switched G4 PDU combines advanced control features at outlet level with all the power quality measurement capabilities of the Metered Input PDU.

           Managed

Our managed G4 PDU incorporates all the features of the switched model but goes a step further by actively monitoring and measuring crucial power quality factors, such as voltage, current and power consumption at outlet level.

Rack PDU G4 rewrites the rules

Boost efficiency, security, density and flexibility to meet today's data centre priorities

Experience the flexibility of new combo C39 outlets

Data centre designers have traditionally faced a guessing game when specifying the required number of C13 (10 A) and C19 (16 A) outlets. The G4 Rack PDU solves this with the flexible combo C39 outlets that securely connect both C14 and C20 power cables.
Until now, you would have been forced to calculate the number of C13 and C19 outlets needed for your deployment ahead of time. The C39 outlets allow you to swap out equipment without the inconvenience of reordering a new rack PDU to meet specific outlet count requirements.

Enhance reliability of power connections with G4’s built-in outlet high retention system

Built-in high retention system at outlet level prevents accidental disconnections due to vibrations, accidental tugs or equipment maintenance within the rack.
In addition, the G4 PDU outlets are compatible with P-lock power cables.

Take control of your IT environment and elevate cybersecurity to the next level with the new G4 control module

Enhance user experience during installation/commissioning, thanks to the new high-definition, wide-angle coloured view display.
Save on unnecessary IT infrastructure, such as extra switches and IP addresses, thanks to the 32 daisy-chained capability of the new G4 PDU range.
Boost uptime and enhance service capability with the hot-swap capability of the network management and control module. Keep your servers up and running while replacing faulty NMC module.
Furthermore, we have implemented network redundancy in the NMC module to minimise the effect of 'early' breaks in the chain. (RSTP loop function)

The NMC offers easy, secure integration with Eaton software and  third-party DCIM solutions or IT systems through RestAPI, SNMP v3 and Modbus TCP.
Two Gb ports offer the flexibility to define different user profiles and access levels in colocation data centres.

Dual network access is a key feature for colocation environments. Thanks to its twin Gb Ethernet ports, the G4 NMC allows both end users and data centre tenants to separately access their PDU.

The NMC also enables one G4 PDU to power up a second PDU’s network module control should it go down, while still enabling the network to access its critical data and connected sensors (power sharing).

Built with cybersecurity in its DNA

Cybersecure-certified  by independent authorities to UL 2900-1 and IEC 62443-4-2, G4’s NMC uses a secured boot process by which it serves as a root of trust device, i.e. a specially authenticated, first line of defence against intrusion.

Maximise available rack space with high outlet density PDU

According to the latest markets trends, the new G4 PDU range provides up to 48 outlets per PDU in a low-profile chassis
To meet specific infrastructure needs, Eaton offers various PDU configurations including 1 phase, 3 phase and different amperage ratings, such as 16A, 32A and 63A.

Accurately monitor power usage

Effectively measures input power, output power, individual outlet or branch circuit. Provides valuable information to manage power distribution and load balancing.
Optimises energy usage by delivering 1% revenue grade power monitoring accuracy for department billing or colocation data centres.

Green solution end to end by design

Halogen-free cable (also known as low smoke zero halogen or LSZH) comes as standard with rack PDU G4.
Energy-efficient, latching relay technology (switched and managed models only) controls the power supply without the need for continuous electrical input.
Efficient, eco-friendly packaging uses recycled and recyclable materials, rather than plastic or polystyrene.
